Handing in My Final Assignment

Wednesday, June 11th, 2014

I’m no stranger to this vlogging business, so here’s my little vlog from when I handed in my final assignment. I thought I’d have some time to myself now I’ve finished everything for university but for some reason, I’ve still been busy! I’ll explain what I’ve been up to in my next sit-down and chat video, which should be up next week.

Dissertation Assessed Screening!

Thursday, May 29th, 2014

Today’s been a scary day – we had our assessed screening for our dissertation project. After nine months of hard work it’s now all over (apart from the written evaluation which I need to hand in next week) and I can’t quite decide how I feel about it. It should be a relief, since it has been a lot of work and stress but I don’t know, maybe I just need time to let it actually sink in. I can’t complain about our feedback, if anything it was all positive or at least constructive, which is really useful.

I vlogged my day so you can see how it all went in the video below. Hope you enjoy it!

Dissertation Test Shots

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

On Monday I went over to Cumbria with my dissertation group to look at our locations and do some test shots. As I’m the sound designer for the film, I was mainly checking for any odd sounds, echoes or anything that could affect the recordings. It went really well and we found the areas in our locations where we’ll be shooting some of the scenes for our film!

Get a sneak preview of some other parts of our locations and see what we got up to in the video below.

Dissertation Location Recce

Wednesday, February 5th, 2014

Yesterday I went on a location recce with my dissertation group. A location recce is basically where you look around one or more areas and scout out potential locations where you could film. As I’m the Sound Designer, I was checking to see if I could hear any road noise or anything that could affect the quality of the sound recordings – even wind noise can be a problem (as you’ll notice in the video below)

It went really well and I’m confident we’ll get a good location that will really boost the production value of the film. My Converse might not agree with me though as they got ridiculously muddy and it was quite slippy getting to the first lake! At least I know now I definitely need some walking boots for our film shoot.

If you want to find out more about the film, check out our facebook page here and we’ve also got a couple more days left on our kickstarter here.
