Java VS C# a Learners Perspective

Sunday, August 23rd, 2015

Hey everyone so I have been coding the SITS system from the 2nd year software development case study into Java so I thought I’d do a little video to show some of the similarities and talk you through it a little bit.

In other news the lives online campaign may be ending with this generation so I’d like to say that I thought it was a great idea/project to work on and it has been great fun improving my videoing skills and editing skills at the same time and it has made me quite confident. I will miss it but I may try to keep blogging but at the moment I have really focused on getting started on a project with Accenture but I’ll try to let you know before the contract ends.

Thanks for reading/watching.

My First Week on Placement!

Sunday, August 16th, 2015

Hey guys a little video here just stating my thoughts on my placement so far.

The mains things I’ve noticed is that its really easy to talk to people as we are all in the same boat but also have similar interests. We do 2-3 weeks of JAVA training on Eclipse presumably once we’re all up to date with how to use it like a semi-pro we will be unleashed onto projects. I’m hoping for a security based one but they do work for other companies and so I still don’t know where I’ll be based, I believe I’ll still be in the Cobalt business park.

First Day on Placement at Accenture

Tuesday, August 11th, 2015

Hey everyone, so as some of you may know I have a placement at Accenture – a global company – and today the 10th of August was my first day here whats I got to say about it.

I’ve decided to install Eclipse on my PC at home and use the Accenture laptop only for work, we can put on whatever we want but we are held responsible if anything happens to it or it needs to be reset. Which is reasonable considering we are grown individuals who will be expected to do the same in the outside working world.

Found that I had a book for learning JAVA so that’s my homework lol. Thanks for watching!

Lets look at Windows 10!

Friday, August 7th, 2015

Hey everyone here’s a video on Windows 10 I created today with commentary by me. Yes its a little bit long but its worth a watch if your new to Windows 10 or wondering whether it is worth upgrading.

Thanks for watching! And if your part of the university already you can download the education edition of Windows 10 for free from there see my other post here for details on how to access it:

Part Time Jobs

Sunday, August 2nd, 2015

Hey everyone just thought I’d share my thoughts on Part Time Jobs.

Obviously this can apply to any extra curricular activities and jobs such as a summer internship which I am hopefully going to try and get between when I finish at Accenture next year and beginning again in September… any experience is great it all adds up. For those who don’t do any even if they get a 1:1 degree with honours they may still struggle to get a job as the academic world is not the same as the real working world.

Hopefully I will try and set up a blog somewhere to let people know how my placement is going and what I’m up to as to keep a better log of whats going as I need to make a record of everything. I also plan to create an in depth folder that I will fill in everyday to make sure I miss nothing. It counts for 10% of my final grade so I want to do it right. My 2nd Year average was more than 70% which means that I have 7% of my final percentage. Good start? I don’t know. Anyway keep reading and if I setup a blog I’ll give you details later.

Thanks for Reading/Watching.
