Movie Night Review “Debug”

Wednesday, November 26th, 2014

Yesterday I spotted a movie for £6.99 in Sainsbury’s, the movie… DEBUG I picked it up as it sounded like my kinda thing, something computery so for the price decided to give it a go.

So essentially the story is set in space where a team of black hat hackers who have been released as part of a correction scheme have been sent to hack a ships A.I, the ship used to be a correctional facility which had been outlawed years ago. The A.I had gotten out of control and every criminal and person who dies there, there personalities synchronize with the A.I. I ain’t great at explaining… here’s a short dramatic synopsis:

“Six young computer hackers sent to work on a derelict space freighter, are forced to match wits with a vengeful artificial intelligence that would kill to be human.”

Essentially it is a horror but on the Computer Forensics course we could potentially have to deal with this in the future but as is the skills we acquire would help us to hack a network and track down potential threats such as the rogue A.I and try to cut it off much like a virus. Also as part of the course we actually have the chance to do Artificial Intelligence in the third year and there’s a strong chance I will be doing it but we’ll have to wait and see.

Overall I liked the film for being quite cheap I have seen some terrible horror films as I particularly enjoy them but this film was actually really good and I would definitely give it at least 4/5. The connection to Computer Forensics was quite good, as  the 6 hackers trying to combat a terrible evil so to are we trying to fight the black hackers out there and make the cyber world safer! But its always a thought… what if this actually happened just like SKYNET, any thoughts? So if you see it and are interested you should take a look but for now here’s the trailer…Enjoy!

My Expensive November Continues – Far Cry 4 Unboxing and November Battle Loot Crate

Friday, November 21st, 2014

So following last weeks vlog’s I’ve still been spending here’s my Far Cry 4 Kyrat Edition Unboxing!

So although some people don’t like it I don’t care I loved the last one although the 2nd one was a bit poo in my opinion but oh well. Anyway I also decided that this month with it being Battle themed and I fancied trying it, I thought I’d give Loot Crate a go. Essentially you pay for an unknown box which can have anything in it to do with that months theme so as this one was Battle it had the below items check it out!

Here is a *LINK* to the Loot Crate website which might explain it better but make sure if you live in the UK to make sure your trying to order the right one as the American one is cheaper but because it has to be sent to good old England it gets a little bit more to get it through customs >.<. Anyway below is the partially done up box to look like a fight! Enjoy!

Assassins Creed Unity CE Unboxing and UoS Graduate Jobs and Placement Fair!

Friday, November 14th, 2014

Yes so as the long title suggests I got my copy of Assassin’s Creed Unity today and I also attended the University of Sunderland Graduate Jobs and Placement Fair put on by the nice people at Sunderland Futures (located next to City Campus Gateway).

Assassin’s Creed Unity – Notre Dame Edition!

As the subtitle would suggest my order of this version of Assassin’s Creed came today woo! Gonna broadcast it tonight me thinks ha ha. Now recently the AC series has gotten more repetitive but this one is set to be great and I’ll let you know what I think after I’ve had a little play but here’s a video of me unboxing and showing off my lovely new game:

Oh and here’s an image of me as an assassin :p

Graduate Jobs and Placement Fair!

This was an amazing event definitely was worth the soaking wet day and coming all the way over from St Peters Campus to attend, before going I liked the idea of a placement with HP or Sage but after this event there are so many more I can apply for and am looking forward to seeing more of. All the ones that offered placements in I.T were very useful and helpful and gave me a lot of reasons to consider them as an opportunity especially that nearly 95% of them said they tend to have a fast track graduate scheme 😉 .  Considering my course Computer Forensics there were a few that seemed they would be good for Security one even described a job role that is exactly what we’re training for. But the best part of the day? Free stuff! Here’s what I got:

Note: I did also find out on Yesterday morning that I won a British Computing Society award for being top student last year. I was shocked but I’ll let you know more about it when I do!

Date Night Movie Review: Ouija!

Sunday, November 9th, 2014

So once a week or so me and the missus go out to the cinema, this week we went to see Ouija a movie based around some kids/ teenagers unleashing a demon after their friend mysteriously takes her own life and they try to contact her on a Ouija board.

Personally I prefer these kinds of movies rather then horrors based on psycho’s or people bad nature I love more fictional stuff. This film did not disappoint definitely worth seeing as I’m quite tough to please movie wise especially for how many horrors old and new I’ve watched. I used to buy them going cheap at Sainsbury’s during halloween and even downloaded and streamed some recently and it’s quite good it could have maybe lasted a bit longer with a few more scares but otherwise a 4/5 from me!

It might not be in cinemas much longer but if you get a chance go and check it out, below is the movie trailer…Enjoy!:

Room Tour and Family Interview – What they think of me being at Sunderland University

Thursday, November 6th, 2014

Hey everyone so here’s the video you’ve come to see:

What an eventful 5th of November, Bonfire Night didn’t even go to a display I wanted to do my video. First issue… Power was out for us seems something knocked the power out, was off for like 4 hours… I could only live on a partially charged laptop and no internet. Then when trying to catch my Dad at the fire station…Yes I realise it was a bad day to try and catch a fireman when people are starting large fires and launching explosives… my bad lol, we missed him twice went for some noms at the takeaway a stones throw down the road then finally caught him yay! Then had to wait for me mum to come in from work at 10… anyway if you like the video quality I made it using Premiere Pro, I got a free trial using Becca’s link for a 30 day free trial :p If not then download it anyway there’s some useful programs to be used on my course and similar ones.

Anyways here’s a little collage picture I put together with me at the fire station and with the horses who sadly could not be reached for comments as it was too dark for them in the field… X[)

Fire Station Fun, Horsies! and me on my laptop :o
