Bye bye 2012..

Monday, December 31st, 2012

Still can hardly believe it but today is the last day of 2012… Time has passed so quickly!

This year were very interesting. They brought me both joy and sadness. But after all,  mistakes we make, experiences we get,  things that had to happen but they didn’t, people we spend time with, are the things that shape our better self.

I’ve changed a lot. Time waits for no one and so I’ve learnt that it’s better to live for today, to live for this moment rather than thinking of future.

I believe dreaming is the most important. We live only once, so let’s make your life your dream life. It’s difficult to follow your dream, but it’s a tragedy not to!!

Wish you all a very happy New Year.:)

greetings directly from Ttonic bar@!

Christmas shopping experience in Sunderland

Friday, December 28th, 2012

It was the boxing day on the 26th, which means mega sales in every single shop. Wherever you go, there were loads of people so I felt like being a little fish in the sea. Even most of the fitting rooms in The Bridges shopping centre were closed because of the mess; people were buying things without even trying them on, (some brave ones tried some clothes on top of their own clothes near the mirror in public). I’m not a fan of shopping, especially when it’s so busy, but that was fun experience anyway.:)

Some pictures of stuff we bought and also some other Christmas moments:

Christmas holidays far away from home

Sunday, December 23rd, 2012
it feels like home now

This year it was a first time I didn’t go back home for Christmas but my mother came here to spend Christmas holidays together with me here in Sunderland instead.

I’m a good cook myself, but I find it hard to cook only for myself sometimes… Especially when I have many deadlines, so I end up eating just anything, which is not good at all! 🙂

Together with my mum we’re having fun so far cooking and experimenting with food. And who knows, I might even expect few extra kilos now!:D

Practical Project Pitch – done

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012

Finally I can say – final practical project presentation is over;

After endless sleepless nights reading, researching, filming, creating and writing the concept document, mission statement, budget plan, revenue & profit calculations I can finally say Semester 1 is practically over. We had a chance to pitch our idea, where the point was basically to “sell” that unique magazine idea for 2 tutors in front of others per 15 minutes.

I heard some cried their eyes out just like babies because something went wrong, some pieces were either missing because InDesign crashed on the night before presentation failing to save all the work material, but this happens at least 1 for everyone – that’s an experience.

As part of my research for my magazine pitch, I went to see a prof. photographer E. Murphy.

And this is a short video clip that I did and I was showing it in my pitch too: (if video doesn’t play, just press here)

Soon I’m going to Life Changing Sunderland University  Experience  Video Competition ceremony in the the Media centre, St Peters Campus, where all the clips will be shown and the winners announced. (And we’ll all get glass of wine too!)

Party Wear Fashion Video: Topshop vs Primark

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

(if video doesn’t play, just press here)

This is a fashion video we’ve produced for our Fashion Journalism class. It’s not final yet, it’s more or less for fun, as it has to be 2mins long, we need to add some captions and we’ll have to add an interview with a fashion designer commenting on our styling and a/w fashion to make it let’s say more…. serious. And while this one is more for fun.

(It’s due to Friday, yeah this Friday, and the I;ve arranged an interview on Wednesday – should be fun…….) And we might have some problems with music tracks, because apparently there’s a big thing with copyrights and stuff, so I guess we’d then use a random track just so that we would not be penalised for copyrights and not lose marks for that. But we shall see.

I’m really busy with my uni work and presentations. The last couple of weeks were enormous: so many important things to do just before Christmas (I even had to say “no” for two magazines that had offered me placement opportunities before Christmas down in London!) so yeah, you can imagine how important are some of these.

I’ll tell you more about these in details in my next video blog.

take care,  Raminta
