Things to Live By in 2015/Life

Wednesday, December 31st, 2014

It’s the last day of 2014, and that is crazy stuff. Hi guys, I hope you’re all excited for what’s to come in 2015, I am.

Watch the video below to check out what my five things to live by in 2015 are.

I thought I’d also take this opportunity to share with you something that I find incredible, and read every year;

“Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
One.

The ball drops and fireworks. Resolutions are made.
People scream and people kiss and is it possible to change?
Is it really truly possible to leave the past behind?

Welcome to Midnight.

Another year comes to a close. Another year begins.
With a moment in between.
Why the fuss?
Why the fame and fireworks?
Is it more than hype? More than something else to sell us?
Is there something to this holiday? Something true inside it?
Because isn’t there something inside us that aches for change…
Dreams it to be possible…
To let go.
To hold on.
To leave it behind.
To start again.
To be new.
Is it possible?

If you’re reading this, if there’s air in your lungs, then you’re alive today tonight right now.
And who can know how long we have here…
And is it a gift? Was it ever a gift? Did that ever feel true or could that one day feel true?
Are there things to fight to live for?
Moments and people… Weddings and children and all your different dreams…
Love…
Is your life more than just your own?
And are there broken things you were made to fight to fix?
Broken families, broken friends… Injustice.
Will you move for things that matter?

Wouldn’t it be nice if change took just a moment?
Wouldn’t it be nice if it were that easy?
Midnight and we’re new. Midnight and the past erased. Midnight and we’re free.

It seems to come slow. It seems to be a surgery.
Forgiveness. Healing. Sobriety. Letting go. Starting over.
It seems to happen slowly over time.
One day at a time, the choice made new each morning.
Will you fight?
Will you fight to be healthy?
Will you fight to be free?
Will you fight for your story?
Will you fight to get the help you need?

Change takes more than a moment, but maybe there’s also something to this celebration of a moment, something to the way it speaks to us, something to the way we fear it, and dream it to be true. Maybe it’s the most honest moment of the year.

It’s possible to change.

Welcome to Midnight.

Here’s to the possibilities. “

It’s written by the incredible Jamie Tworkowski, on the To Write Love On Her Arms blog, and it’s one of my favourite things to read. If you don’t know the cause and site, take a look- it’s fantastic. http://twloha.com/blog/welcome-midnight.

I think thats about it from me for 2014. It’s been real, but I can’t wait for what next year holds. Bring it on! See you guys on the flip-side!

Make sure to check back soon for more. Check out the links below to keep up with me. Till next time guys,

Music Monday’s #7 | Last one of 2014!

Monday, December 29th, 2014

Hola! I hope everyone had an epic christmas with their famalama (family). Mine was an enjoyable one, and now I’m busy gearing up for 2015!

When I realised that it was the last Monday of 2014 (Crazy right?), I knew straight away what song should get a #MM.

‘In a Perfect World’ by The Sam Chase.

It’s been out for a little while, and it’s from their ‘Will Never Die’ album, and it may of even featured in a previous #MM.

It’s such a easy going song.. I think it’s hard not to love it. “It’s an exhilarating mix of relaxing and motivating”. I just think it’s a song of wonderment.. that you can go chill, you can go adventuring, you can go do whatever you want to do, because the world is what it is.

Let me tell you mister
you should always talk to strangers
because you never really know the brilliant things that you might hear”

I’d known about them for a while, and was beyond stoked when I heard them on the end of a mini documentary style videos on YouTube, by a pair of filmmakers I watch; JacksGap. It was used at the end of this mega triumphant trip across India, in a rickshaw. That’s impressive, adventurous and also something I now REALLY, REALLY want to do. It looks incredible. I’ve linked the first episode down below. Watch it, you won’t regret it!

MORE!

Another reason I thought it’s a good song to end the year on is because yes, while it’s upbeat and hints for better things (Like we all want for a new year.)- I’ve also been granted permission from The Sam Chase to use the song in any and all of my videos. YES! So, whenever it fits- it’ll be there, so keep a listen out.

Enjoyyyyy!

Make sure to check back soon and to keep up with me on all of my links down below. Till next time guys,

First Term Recap!

Monday, December 22nd, 2014

Hello there, how are well all doing?

I’ve had a pretty busy day today- I spent most of it in the studio doing all things radio. But, I’ve gotten that all sorted now and so I was able to get home, film and edit a video for your viewing pleasure!

As I’m currently home for the Christmas break, I decided I’d use the most Christmasy background I could find.. I think I did an alright job. I decided I’d do a recap video of my first while at University. How It all started for me, etc etc. Give it a watch!

I’m already working on another video but, until then.. Merry almost Christmas?

Make sure to keep up with me on all of the links down below!

A Night on The Polar Express!

Friday, December 12th, 2014

Hello there guys, how are we all doing this Friday eve? Good I hope.

I on the other hand have had SUCH a busy week and a bit, I’ve never stopped. It’s been ridiculously full on!

BUT IT’S FRIDAY! So it’s done with and I’m relaxing like it’s no ones business. It was here that I realised I hadn’t even had the time to write a little post to highlight something super fun I got to do last week.

I WENT ON THE POLAR EXPRESS!

It was a fantastic night. Rosie, Holly, Kieran and Myself went along to gather content for the Spark Breakfast show, as well as to have fun! We had hot chocolate, cookies, songs, laughs, etc! It’s a bit of a drive to get to from Sunderland, about an hour or s0- but it’s worth it. It’s been a crazily busy year for them, so if you can’t go this time, make sure to get your seats next time!

Enjoy guys, till next time folks, wrap up warm!

Music Monday’s #6

Monday, December 1st, 2014

Aloha my amigos! How are we all? Good I hope. Now, I thought it’d been a little while since Music Monday’s had been a thing. So, it’s back!

Kind of.

Instead of throwing music in every direction, I thought I’d change it up a little bit and give you some material that’s that extra bit important to me recently.. does that make sense? Yes, no, maybe? I have no idea.. but maybe the way I explain the songs will make it clearer.
Now, if you follow me on my links down below, and twitter more notably in this case- you may have seen my rave about this song a few times already.. BUT I LOVE IT!

It’s just so good. And it was just what I needed last Friday afternoon.  I presented my first live show on Spark. Sunderland’s radio station. It was my turn to present the Spark Recap Show, in which the best bits of the week are replayed for the listening pleasure. My role was basically to present the show and introduce the songs and clips.

Now, I’ll not go into to much detail, but I will say it could have gone a whole lot smoother, BUT that’s alright- a few days later, I can now say it’s a learning curve. (At the time though and some time after I felt so bad. So, so so bad!) But this song, as if by magic was in the playlist for my hour, and it managed to calm me down, NO END, almost immediately.

If you don’t find yourself at the very least, foot tapping or head-bobbing then you sir/madam have some issues that need addressing. It’s such a fantastic, groove of a song. I can’t stop listening too it. So, essentially what I’m trying to say is- this song saved my life last Friday!

There we have it- the shortened story of my fail live on air and my favourite song of the moment, all in the same post. Go me.

If you want to hear me live on air, you may have to wait a little while, as I’m not sure yet when I’m next scheduled. But, I am a producer on the lovely Rosie Ramsey’s Breakfast Show every Wednesday, so you may here me on air, there now and again.

Cheers folks, I’ll be back next week with a very special interview I did with a local band that I LOVE, so check back next week and make sure to keep up with me on all of my links down below. Till next time guys,

-Liam
