Pharmacy school

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

So just because Pharmacy school is over for the summer, it doesn’t mean the information stops there! If you have any questions about Sunderland, university life, and of course Pharmacy please ask! I have been thinking and preparing a post on the history of this amazing pharmacy school. This week I will be posting about that, so keep reading…..!!!!!!!!!

Things in London

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

So far I have been extremely busy! The day after I got back I met up with my London friends to go shopping/eating/catch up after being away since easter. It’s always soo nice to see my friends from home, as I have known them for such a long time, and even though we all have different things going on, we still have stayed close in touch. Over the past few days so much has happened that I can’t exactly remember each detail. All I know is that I’ve gone out to eat a lot, lots of shopping, had  a manicure, hada a bonfire with marshmallows with friends…lol… gosh.

London

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

So last week I returned back to London to start my amazing summer and have lotssss of fun. I returned back really late on the evening, and my friend picked me up from the station. My dad is currently vacationing around the world, so it meant I was home alone..yay! So my friend drove us into central London to eat (because unlike Sunderland, restaurants here are open till 12am), and then we went to get milkshakes at this 24hr milkshake shop. I just love being in London, not only because it’s home, but because you are actually able to do things like this! I missed it a lot whilst I was away, however its only a 4 hour journey.

See ya later Sunders

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

So after such an enthralling year I have finally left Sunderland! This year from September till now has turned out to be completely different to what I expected. It turned out to be SO much better. I had a good first semester getting used to the new academic year, and gradually learning how much larger the work load was from level 1. I had more free time in the first few months and I remember I was lucky enough to go to some of the cool events held by uni, such as the Malaysian night. After Christmas I had my first exam which I recall being very stressed about! And pretty much from then on my serious studying started, as we had more assignments due in, and also our big dispensing exam to prepare for. I met SOOO many new people at the start of 2013, and continued to all the way up until the last day. I won an Ipad from the library, and was featured on the front cover of the prospectus!!! I became so much closer with my friends which is really important when you are living away. So thanks Sunderland for all the AMAZING opportunities and everything I was able to do. And thanks to my wonderful friends! I enjoyed level 2, but hopefully I’ll never experience it again lol.

Newcastle

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

Newcastle is the big neighbouring city next to Sunderland! When you visit Sunderland, or if you’re already from here..you will know the rivalry between Sunderland and Newcastle. I’m really not sure why as I enjoy being in both cities, but I think its probably because of the two football teams. Anyway, you can get to Newcastle from Sunderland via the metro, and it takes about 40mins. Personally I think the metro system could be modernised and improved to become slightly faster…but I’ll leave that up to someone else to change!!! So I went to Newcastle to shop with two of my best friends, Maria and Mark. Newcastle reminds me so much of London, as its like a really mini London! The shopping there is pretty good, and they do tend to have a lot bigger selection and choice of places to go than Sunderland. We went shopping in the Eldon Square part of the mall, and then we got lunch. Maria is actually from Cyprus, so luckily for her she was actually able to buy such cute summer clothes for her trip back home. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to as it isn’t exactly summertime here in the UK just yet 🙂 We got bubble tea again, which is our favourite!

Saying bye..

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

Straight after exams ended I kind of did not know what to do with myself. It was so sad because after being so busy for so many months, my friends and I had to say bye to each other as we all planned to return back to our homes. I think I spent the entire following day in the mall in Sunderland with my friends. Sounds so boring! But it was actually so nice as it was one of the last few days we’d all be able to hang out and drink coffee together.. So in particular I’m going to miss Mariam! She has been like my rock here in Sunderland! I miss her already so much, and she has always been there for me during the stressful times at uni!

End of Exams

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

photo-193 copyHey guys!!

I am SO sorry for my lack of updates lately. I had a really intense past month at uni, with my two big exams! My first exam started properly in mid may. It consisted of everything we had covered in the first semester (September – December) of lectures. Our exam was structured in such a way that we had to answer 2 questions each from our pharmaceutics, chemistry and therapeutics topics. Sounds easy right, just 2 questions per topic? Think again! Very tricky! The final section consisted of 4 scenario based questions on everything, from which we only needed to answer 2! The second paper followed about a week later, and was structured differently. It again covered the second semester (January – March). From the first section we needed to answer 6 out of 10, and then the second section 2 out of 4. Hopefully I’m recalling this correctly! Anyway, I really feel like I gave it my best shot. Of course it was difficult in some places, but definitely do-able in others. Hopefully everyone who tried their best will be pleased come results day. So I am so glad that this horrible, stressful exam period is over and now I am able to enjoy the summer! Unfortunately I miss my best friends from Uni so much….!!!
