My January so far!!

Sim man returns!

Thursday, January 17th, 2013

Just before the winter break, I took part in a few photo opportunities around university demonstrating our fabulous Sim Man receiving an injection!

Sim man is such a great tool for our learning, as we get a real hands on experience seeing the different effects and reactions of patient who undergoes medical therapy. We can also see how a patient would be when suffering from various conditions, such as a cardiac arrest.

I spied a few articles floating around discussing the latest addition to the MPharm program here at UoS

Check it out!

January update.

Thursday, January 17th, 2013

Hi everyone!!

I am finally back in Sunderland, and have been now for nearly two weeks. It is so great to be back in this cute city, and it feels just like returning to home after being here for over a year. The only thing that doesn’t feel great is returning to lots of work…joking!!!

I started back last Monday and I have had a completely full week. My first class was a Chemistry analysis lab at 9am, where by we extracted menthol from mint leaves, very minty! The rest of the week followed with lots of seminars and lectures on our new semester, which covers the respiratory and gastro-intestinal systems! So far I’ve had some lectures on Asthma exploring it’s physiology, and looking at medications available to reduce it; such as therapeutic aerosols and other types of inhaled drug therapy!

I have a huge law exam on the legalities behind pharmacy practise on Monday evening, so I have been extremely busy studying hard in preparation for it — wish me luck!

In the meantime, I have been having fun catching up with all my friends after the winter break!!
