Cottage in northern Ontario.

Saturday, December 29th, 2012

On the 27th, My dad and I, and some other people, took a 3hour drive up to a cottage resort somewhere in Northern Ontario. It was so pretty! They had ice skating, skiing, tobogganing and hot tubs! However my dad and I decided to only stay one day, and we moved on to somewhere else. Here are my photos from the cottage we spent 1 night in!

On Christmas Eve, I went to visit a near neighbouring area called Pickering, in Ontario, where home owners decorated their houses with the most extravagant lights and ornaments! It was such an amazing thing to see, and there were so many cars queued up on the street to see the houses, and lots of people walking around giving donations to the people who put up the lights (mainly done for charity purposes). Here are a few of my photos.

I spent Christmas Day with My dad and some family friends!! It was so fun! And in the evening we went to the cinema…it was soo busy, who knew people actually left their homes on Xmas day??

Snakes and Lattes!

Monday, December 24th, 2012

Oh my gosh!! Last night, after yet another Birthday meal, I went with some of my Canadian friends to a cafe called Snakes and Lattes. There was a 2hour waiting list to get seated in this cafe, which is incredibly unusual for any coffee place. However this isn’t any ordinary cafe, you actually go there and play games whilst drinking coffee etc. It’s not just simple games people play, like snakes and ladders, as the name suggests, but hardcore board games there for real board game nerds!!! There were hundreds of games available to play, and also hundreds of sealed up boxes of games to buy. The place is open until 2am and always super busy.

There were typical staff members there to serve, and also staff members which were masters of all the games available, and they were able to explain any game if you didn’t understand it. It was such a cool experience and so fun! We played Citadels card game, and The Walking Dead. I took some photos and also a short video of this cool place. I think we stayed for nearly 3hrs!!

Bubble Tea

Monday, December 24th, 2012

Bubble tea is such a big thing in Canada! I’ve been to the US a few times, yet never heard of it there or in the UK.. However here everyone practically drinks it! Its a cold drink, composed of either green tea or black tea with an added flavour. It can alternatively be made with milk. The name Bubble I guess comes from the addition of tapioca berries which sit at the bottom of the cup!! So I went to grab a bubble tea whilst out and about in Toronto!

My birthday!

Monday, December 24th, 2012

I celebrated my birthday this past Friday, and it was so much fun! I pretty much spent the whole day eating food and seeing lots of different people! Earlier in the morning I went out with one of my friend’s from pharmacy in Sunderland for breakfast and met his friends, afterwards we went to an ice cream shop and met some more of my friends from Sunderland, and later on I went out to eat with my friend’s parents! The food in Canada is seriously so much better than in the UK, especially Breakfast, my favourite meal of the day as everything you order is practically served with stacks of pan cakes..!! The restaurants here are so much bigger and the food portions are huge. I had such a great day!

Canadian Vacation day 2

Monday, December 24th, 2012

On my second day I didn’t happen to suffer from any jet lag, as I stayed awake pretty late the Monday night I arrived- so I was able to quickly get into the time and routine normal here. On tuesday I went into Toronto to the HUGE mall, Eton Centre! It’s so nice, so much bigger than the Gateshead mall The Metro Centre, and of course Sunderland’s Bridges mall hehe.
I took a quick video whilst I walked around.

Canadian vacation

Monday, December 24th, 2012

Hello everyone!

I’m celebrating my Birthday, Christmas and New Year in Ontario, Canada this year! After a long semester of classes which ended last friday, I took the train home to London for a very short weekend, before I left for my flight Monday morning. My dad had already left a week prior to me, and I planned to meet him at the airport, and then go to my family friend’s house.

So now I have finally spent my 1st whole week here, and I have done so much! Lots of students from Ontario, in Canada come over to study Pharmacy at UoSUN so I’ve been lucky enough to visit (and stay with) a few so far!

The first place my dad took me to when I landed was Tim Hortons!! It’s just the BEST coffee/tea shop ever, and only available in Canada!!
