Having finished Uni for the summer, me and my girlfriend stayed in Keswick in the Lake District for a few days. We were extremely lucky with the unpredictable British weather and had glorious sunshine most of the time we were there; in fact, it didn’t rain at all until we were in the car on the way home.

As you can see from my pictures, the town of Keswick and the Lake District in general is extremely beautiful. The views from the mountain Skiddaw are truly breath taking.

Keswick2014In the collage below you can see the view from our hotel window which was stunning! Also, one evening we had a delicious meal in a restaurant called Morrel’s. For starter we both had pork belly with a crispy piece of pork scratching on top, it was very tasty! For main we had beef, it melted in your mouth it was that tender and for pudding I had the chef’s dark chocolate tart which was truly scrumptious, whilst my girlfriend had sticky toffee pudding. You can also see below a couple of pics from crazy golf and a video of me getting a hole in one! Honest, this wasn’t just NUMEROUS takes on camera…

Kings of Leon @ St James’ Park

Sunday, June 1st, 2014

Kings of Leon played St James’ Park in Newcastle and I was lucky enough to be there after winning tickets via Metro Radio. My group was allocated an executive box which you can see in the video. It was really posh and I felt really lucky to finally experience what is like to sit in one of these areas. As an NUFC fan I’ve always wondered what the executive suites were like and now I know! It was a fantastic gig and the support acts were great too, particularly Twin Atlantic and White Lies. The highlight was definitely when everyone had their phone lights out, I’ve never seen St James’ Park like that, truly magical.

It’s clear that the North East attracts some of the biggest music artists in the world and has a vast number of great venues to experience music of all genres. Whether it’s a big stadium gig or a small intimate one, there will definitely be something for you. The University of Sunderland has fantastic transport links to all of the North East’s best music venues; just another reason why this University is a great choice for Students home or abroad.

Take a peek at Table 4! It felt pretty cool having my name on here. What’s more, when I went to the bar, the lady said “You’re the Peter Jones dude aren’t you!” …she recognised me! She said she had seen me speak at a business conference. Nice to know I made an impact.

1D come to Sunderland!

On May 28th 2014, the world’s biggest boy band One Direction came to the city of Sunderland as part of their current ‘Where We Are’ tour. It was a fantastic gig in a great venue. Niall from the band said “This is one of my favourite football stadium’s in England”. The Stadium of Light attracts the biggest names and is only a stones throw away from the University. Last year I watched Bon Jovi at the Stadium and this year One Direction took it up a notch. A truly great gig with lots of fireworks and an awesome centre stage so all fans could feel closer to the band. The weather was cold and the rain was persistent but here in the North East the weather doesn’t stop anyone, it was fun! Check out the gig footage in the video above.
