Bastille – The best gig ever!

Thursday, February 27th, 2014

26/02/2014 – It was ice cold and me, alongside my girlfriend, queued up for the Bastille gig in Newcastle. We were determined to get near the front as we are both BIG fans! It is safe to say we weren’t disappointed! We had a great position at the front of the stage and were really close to Bastille as they belted out their amazing songs. The lead singer Dan even came out into the crowd to perform one of the songs, as you can see in the video. It was a fantastic gig and would thoroughly reccommend going to see Bastille perform if you ever get the chance, they are amazing live!

Amazing Wall Art!

Friday, February 21st, 2014

I was walking through Sunderland on my way to the Empire Cinema when this incredible piece of wall art caught my eye! The piece is HUGE and really brightens up a rather derelict spot in the city. To find out more info about the piece, check out the website at the top of the artwork.

Did you know…

Sunday, February 2nd, 2014

I thought it would be interesting for me to revisit what I got up to before I began my studies at the University of Sunderland, so you could learn a bit about what I’ve done over the past few years.

Before Uni, I went to the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy in Manchester where I lived for a year. I set up my own marketing business and went on to win National & Manchester Entrepreneur of the Year, as well as becoming the UK’s first ever BTEC Student of the Year.

Here is an interview I did with Peter Jones:

I worked really hard to achieve what I did and I went on to run my marketing business for a further year before deciding I wanted to fulfil my ambition to qualify as a teacher. The sort of marketing I conducted can be seen in one of the first elevator pitches I ever did:

Why teaching? Well, it’s something I’ve wanted to be in since I was little and I’m excited to qualify. That is not to say I won’t go back into business because I’m sure I will, it’s just a matter of time. In fact, I feel QTS status will help me in my quest to revolutionise the education industry.

Finally, I’ll leave you with the prize I received back in 2011 from Peter Jones for winning National Entrepreneur of the Year…one of the most amazing things I ever did…flying with the Breitling Jet Team in Northern France:

If you would like to learn more about my business background, feel free to get in touch via this blog or you can find me on Twitter @grantridley. You can also visit my personal website:
