My Trip to Morocco!

Tuesday, February 10th, 2015

Hi, IMG_4350

A couple of weeks ago I had a chance to visit Morocco. Although, we (me and my boyfriend) spent only three days there, but we had the most adventurous time ever!

The holiday has started with running like crazy through the Gatwick Airport  (we were about to miss our flight) and ended up getting a fine for forgetting to wear seat belts.

But let’s start about everything from the beginning. On the first day we went to a palm tree grove where we had a little camels ridding experience. We’ve got to try on the traditional Arabic clothes – Kaftan and Keffiyeh (a scarf) and 1.5 hr long ride. After a couple of hours rest, we decided to visit the Medina city which is an old part of Marrakech and is famous by its square/market Jemma el-Fnna.

On the next day we had a trip to see Setti Fatma Waterfalls in the High Atlas Mountains. When we just arrived to the Ourika Valley village our guide Mohamed told us  he cannot take us to the waterfalls as it’s forbidden for him. At first, I didn’t understand how can be someone forbidden from watching the waterfall from the foothills. But then we met Buhamed – a professional hiker – who brought us up to the Setti Fatma (two kilometers above the water).

Apparently if you want to see the waterfalls – you must climb there. And it was extremely dangerous, super difficult and definitely worth it. We spent around two hours crossing rivers while balancing our feet and weight on the stones. There was also a very difficult where we had to go over the massive wall and I slipped and almost fell down to the sharp rocks. I nearly had a heart attack.

On our very last day we went to the most amazing gardens: Menara and Jardin Majorelle, which is owned by famous French designer Yves Saint Laurent.

I made a short video about my experience in Morocco. Enjoy!
