Have you applied for Summer Placements?

So the summer is upon us as pharmacy students, so what I thought my next piece would centre on is…SUMMER PLACEMENTS.

Have you applied for any? Have you had them in the past?

Summer placements not only show your enthusiasm for pharmacy, but they show your dedication and experience. They are incredibly important and many students I know have found them seriously helpful. Not only can you gain ‘hands on’ experience in a community or hospital pharmacy; but you can put theory into practice by consulting patients, sitting in on MUR/NMS services, getting to know the routines that take place in different pharmacy settings, and developing a rapport with other health care professionals.

I would definitely recommend applying for placements! Be committed; if you aren’t successful in applications, why not do some voluntary work experience in a pharmacy or other health-related setting… it’s all about gaining experience, putting theory into practice, meeting other pharmacists, making a good impression and also bulking out your CV… all experience can be used for job applications (whether it’s pharmacy based or not!)

Importantly though, have a fantastic summer. Take the time to be pro-active and do lots, but also make sure you unwind and relax. Pharmacy school is tough!!

Yesterday there was North East Live on at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. It was a brilliant concert which ran from 2pm to 10pm! Lots of different performers were there, including The Vamps, The Saturdays, Katy B, Rizzle Kicks, Jason Derulo and Jessie J. I had such a fab time & here are some videos I took while there… I just hope the videos do the even justice, cause it was fantastic!

Enjoy!!
